Every student starts with unique abilities and each learning plan is structured for personal growth and success.

  • Piano Lessons
    Piano Lessons

PIANO LESSONS are scheduled once a week from September through mid June similar to most school schedules and a Six-week Summer Session.

In addition, Performance Opportunities and Studio Recitals are offered throughout the year. Generally, younger students and beginners start with 30 minute lessons and intermediate and older students with 45 minutes while advanced students and adults can benefit from a 60 minute session. All students should be prepared to put in practice time each week outside of their scheduled lesson. Playing music is fun but the only way to learn and improve is to practice!

  • Vocal Lessons
    Vocal Lessons & Coaching

VOICE LESSONS teach techniques that educate students on the correct use of their instrument, helping to avoid strain and lasting damage. Train to breathe correctly and increase volume and stamina.

Learn to sing in the following styles:

    • Broadway
    • Pop
    • Jazz

VOCAL COACHING can help refine technique in preperation for an upcoming audition, stage role or other special event performance. We can also teach you how to communicate effectively to an audition accompanist to get their best performance at your audition!

  • Music Theory
    Music Theory
MUSIC THEORY is the study of how music is put together. It is the technical language of music. While many musicians have no knowledge of theory, some theory is beneficial in order to communicate clearly with other musicians. Music Theory is included in piano lessons but can also be taken seperately for those who wish to learn about the foundation and structure of music or to take up where they left off earlier in life.

About Limelight

Instruction by Suzanne Messinger

Suzanne began her musical career at the age of six studying classical piano for 12 years then training vocally for an additional 12 years. She studied at Clark Community College under Dale Beacock and with Carolyn Ternahan of the San Francisco Opera. She performed as a professional singer and keyboardist along the west coast for four years before settling in the Columbia River Gorge where she taught music both privately and in public schools for eight years. There, Suzanne also studied every aspect of musical theater both in front of and behind the curtain focusing specifically on what it takes to shine as a performer.

To date, Suzanne has been an actor, director, musical director, producer, conductor, accompanist and stage manager in well over 30 productions, as well as a Founding Member, President and Artistic Director of Encore Performing Arts Theater in The Dalles, Oregon.

One of her greatest joys is helping artists and students of all ages work hard to achieve their musical goals. The best feeling in the world is when a student reaches that Limelight moment as they realize, “I did it!”
